Hibiscus Tale
The Hibiscus, belonging to the Malvaceae family, traveled across continents and cultures, captivating hearts with for its cultural, medicinal, and culinary wonders. Among its many varieties and colors, the recognized type is the Hibiscus sabdariffa, also known as Roselle, it is believed to have originated in Africa.
The most popular part of the hibiscus is its calyx, found at the bottom of each hibiscus sabdariffa flower. This fleshy, bright red cup-like structure contains the plant's seeds and contains a tarty taste. The calyx is often used to make hibiscus iced tea or as a seasoning.
The hibiscus also has cultural importance across various civilizations:
